Sawn Timber Firring Pieces are precision finished for use in flat roofs construction to allow water to run off due to the angle they create
It is standard practice for the joists of a flat roof are set level to ensure a flat ceiling internally. However, some gradient needs to be added to the flat roof to achieve drainage. This required gradient (or ‘fall’) is usually a minimum of 1 in 40, and is formed by using sections of taper cut structural timber which are then fixed along the length of the roof joists. Firrings are normally the same width and length of the joists, although the length might have to be achieved with two separate pieces of timber
